Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Policy
Arclen Finance
Arclen takes steps to ensure property finance transactions are genuine, transparent and appropriate before introducing opportunities to specialist lenders.
Arclen Finance Limited, trading as Arclen Finance, is a specialist property finance brokerage. Arclen arranges unregulated bridging and development finance only. Arclen does not lend, does not make credit decisions and is not a regulated mortgage broker.
AML checks help Arclen:
- understand who Arclen is dealing with;
- reduce the risk of fraud and financial crime;
- support lender and professional counterparty requirements.
These checks support Arclen's assessment of an enquiry. They do not replace lender AML checks, lender due diligence or lender underwriting.
01Why Arclen performs AML checks
Arclen may need to understand:
- the identity of individuals involved;
- company ownership and control structures;
- the purpose of funding;
- the nature of the proposed transaction;
- the source of funds where appropriate.
The information requested depends on the circumstances of the enquiry. Arclen may also receive introductions from estate agents and other professional introducers. An introduction does not change the need to understand the parties and the proposed transaction.
02Checks Arclen may perform
Depending on the transaction, Arclen may undertake checks including:
- identity verification;
- company information checks;
- director and beneficial ownership checks;
- sanctions and risk screening;
- review of transaction purpose;
- source of funds or source of wealth checks where appropriate.
Not every check is performed on every enquiry. Arclen currently operates these processes manually, supported by appropriate checks and secure document handling.
03When checks take place
Initial enquiries may require limited information to understand whether Arclen can assist.
Where a transaction progresses towards lender engagement, Arclen may request additional information and supporting documents.
The level of information required depends on:
- transaction complexity;
- borrower structure;
- lender requirements;
- the nature of the proposed finance.
04Working with specialist lenders
Arclen's checks do not replace lender due diligence.
Each lender independently determines:
- whether to lend;
- what information is required;
- whether AML and underwriting requirements are satisfied.
05Information handling
Information collected during AML checks is handled in accordance with Arclen's Privacy Notice.
Further information is available in the Privacy Notice and Client Verification page.
